Dean,
may I ask if the next OCS title, the reprint of GBII, will contain some changes to the game? Perhaps to connect it to CASE BLUE?
Thanks,
Alessandro

Still now Case Blue is designed to be connected and played (by who can fly over the maps :P ...) toghether with GB. Also some scenarios and substite units are included.

GB2 as it exists is already connected to the various maps in Case Blue, because the Case Blue game includes the Crimea and all the 4 EATG maps (and then a whole lot more maps).

I have read multiple AAR's of combined games on CSW. I am not sure I would want to play with that many map sets.

The local OCS group that i play with setup Case Blue using 2 nearby tables. One contains the EATG map sets and the other has the CB map sets. there is plenty of actual map overlap so we have to remember to move units across the gap.

We started with the July 42 setup. The Axis have taken both the Maikop and Grozny oil fields which is rather impressive. We play with a myriad of house rules. The Axis made some attempts to take the east bank of the great Don River bend but never got adjacent to Stalingrad or the Volga.

It has been very interesting and the game is so big that the players have to make strategic choices. They can not do it all.

Hi Perry, welcome!
I am very pleased to met you in this forum, I still try to enter your EatG website! Many compliments for the notes on this wonderful game you drafted.
Any news on GB2 reprint? It's dragging on it seems.

Alessandro

hello.

that old website with all the pictures and commentary about the EATG game was hosted by a boss i worked for a long time ago. he laid me off from that job and was not honest with me so i have never had anything to do with him and i fully expected the web site to be shut down by him.

i have no control over the number of people signing up for the reprint of GB2.

but the combination of GB2 and Case Blue makes for a huge game. it covers so much of the Eastern Front that the players can make so very real strategic decisions, especially if they play though to the summer of 1942. even Case blue is very interesting given the very real choices between driving for the distant oil fields or heading for the city on the Volga and interrupting barge traffic on the river.

Welcome Perry.

Nice to see you could log in :)

I played Case Blue - the beginning, twice, but I found the supply points available very few for the Germans to start the offensive.
Ok, I'm never very lucky in supply dice rolls (such as OCS Italy ;) ), but Germans run out of fuel and ammo just after the first turn... and with short front offensive. What a pity :)

Andrea

Andrea.

I assume you are discussing the Oct 1941 campaign start in the Ukraine. I have never played that setup but Roland says it is one of his favorites.

It is a real challenge for the Axis player but with practice you can get close to the historical progress.

Sorry,

I was not clear :)

I was talking about the start up of Operation Case Blue, the Axis offensive in summer '42...
