Frontline General: Spearpoint 1943 in production
Spearpoint 1943, our fast-playing tension-filled WWII card wargame, is now in production. We really appreciate your preorders for this game and it would not have made it to production without that support. If you have not yet preordered, there is still time to save 20% off the MSRP and grab the game direct from CEW for $24 + shipping before the price goes up to $29.95 (retail). Shipping is cheap for this title- we can send it anywhere in the USA for $4.95 (choose the USPS small flat rate box option) or anywhere in the world for $13.45 (choose the USPS international small flat rate box option). You may also preorder through your FLGS in the USA, Spain, or Germany.
Initial Feedback on Spearpoint 1943 (pre-release)
Collins Epic Wargames demoed Spearpoint 1943 at three game conventions so far this year including Williamsburg Muster, Prezcon, and the GAMA Trade Show. Everyone who sat down to play a game of Spearpoint was impressed and really enjoyed their time. Many preordered on the spot after just one game! While exhibiting to retail store owners and buyers at the GAMA Trade Show in Las Vegas, NV in March, many stores pledged to carry our games in their stores. We also negotiated distribution terms with another US distributor sparked by their impressions of Spearpoint 1943. This is all GREAT news for the game and is an indication that the title will be well-received by gamers.
Playtesters enjoyed the game during a recent blind playtest conducted with test groups as far away as Italy. Playtesters added value to the game by offering some great feedback after extensive testing. Several changes were implemented to make infantry in the game more powerful (they may now close-assault an armored unit), to clarify attack values versus armor, and to add graphical reminders for the functions of some Command Cards. Some rules were also clarified and wording improved. I enjoyed working with these test groups and I’m happy with the hard work they volunteered to accomplish to make Spearpoint 1943 an even better game.
Collins Epic Wargames Page now on Facebook
We now have a Facebook page dedicated to Collins Epic Wargames news, production and art updates, design previews and discussion, show appearances, and more. The Facebook page also feeds Byron’s blog about publishing, which will be dedicated to longer articles about game design, publishing, and thoughts on the industry in general. A recent post reflected on ordering nearly 10,000 dice for Spearpoint 1943 production- we’re still debating whether or not to roll them all at once.
